CPR Pocket Mask

A pocket face mask, also known as CPR face mask or pocket mask, is a protective equipment designed to safely provide rescue breaths during an accidental or emergency respiratory or cardiac arrest. It is not to be mistaken with a medical breathing apparatus commonly known as a mask. It does not have a mouthpiece, but serves more like a face mask.

A CPR face mask has two components. One is the face mask that is attached by straps to the mask and the other is the breathing tube. Both components are made from durable nylon, which is easy to clean. They also come with a wide mouth piece that can fit into most mouth pockets or chin straps.

Although a CPR face mask is designed to protect the wearer’s eyes from the dust, debris, and sun, it also serves its primary purpose of delivering oxygen through the breathing tube to the lungs. In the event of an emergency, the breathing tube can be pulled out of the mouthpiece and placed in the mouth by either inserting a finger or thumb between the face mask and face or by pushing a latch button on the face mask’s lid.

A finger can be placed in the mouthpiece’s hole by twisting it outwards slightly while a thumb can be inserted. When the face mask is completely closed, a mouthpiece that is specially designed to keep the breathing tube in place and avoid air leak can be inserted into the mouthpiece.

Reasons To Use CPR Pocket Mask

A face mask is most useful when placed in the vehicle for a trip to the hospital or home. They can also be worn while at home, in case of a fire, and while participating in a sporting activity such as diving. Most face masks are suitable for up to five days of continuous wear.

To purchase a face mask, contact your local medical supply store or hospital supply center. They should be able to order one for you. Most face masks are available in basic colors; black, white, and red are the basic choices. For a more sophisticated look, you can select a face mask that features reflective strips and a colored face shield.

When you receive the face mask, you will need to inspect it for any damage, holes, loose stitches, tears or broken pieces. If there are any gaps, you should adjust the mask to correct these gaps.

Some masks are made of the same material as the face mask. Other masks, such as one featuring the CPR face shield, are custom designed to accommodate the use of a mouthpiece and breathing tube. The face shield is composed of the face mask’s face shield and mouthpiece and the breathing tube is secured to the face shield.

In order to maintain the effectiveness of your CPR pocket mask you should regularly clean it and maintain it using a special solution of one part water and two parts household vinegar. Cleaning and maintenance of your face mask is easy and can be done at home.

Before beginning to clean the mouthpiece, remove the mouthpiece and replace it with a clean one. Place the mouthpiece inside of the mouthguard for a few seconds to allow all of the moisture to be removed. Once complete, rinse the mouthpiece completely with clean water. Next, rinse the mouthpiece with disinfectant, followed by another clean bath.

To wash the mouthpiece, wash it with a damp cloth. Do not rinse with soap or detergent as this can cause the mouthpiece to rust. Once the mouthpiece has been properly cleaned, wash it with warm water. You may want to dry the mouthpiece with a clean towel prior to placing it back into the mouthpiece holder.

For those who prefer to use the mouthpiece with the face mask in place, you can then add a small amount of dish washing detergent to the mouthpiece to remove the build-up on the mask. Next, remove the face shield from the mouthpiece.

Final Thoughts

In order to clean the face shield, simply wash the face shield and mouthpiece with a mild detergent. Before placing it into the mouthpiece holder, spray the face shield with disinfectant to remove any buildup.
